About VSSUT
Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology is an Indian state-run university in Burla, Sambalpur. It was established in 1956 and is Odisha's oldest engineering institution. Its old name, UCE Burla, was officially changed to its current name on June 10, 2009, following a determination by the Government of Odisha to grant it unitary university status.
VSSUT was established as the University College of Engineering (UCE), Burla, by the Government of Odisha as the state's first engineering college. The college's main goal was to provide white-collar personnel to the nearby Hirakud Dam project in the form of electrical, civil, and mechanical engineers. Jawaharlal Nehru, the country's first Prime Minister, set the foundation for the college. The initial batch consisted of 20 students from three different engineering branches: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The university was then placed under the administrative administration of Sambalpur University and then the Biju Patnaik University of Technology. UCE students actively pushed for due recognition as an independent university beginning in 2008, culminating in the university's establishment in 2009.
The institution sits on around 300 acres of good land in Burla, adjacent to the Hirakud dam. It is continually reorganising and modernising its physical infrastructure and its research and education facilities to keep up with modern advances. Students on the Campus have access to laboratories from several departments and central facilities such as the Computer Centre, Library, Internet Centre, workshop and separate dorms for boys and girls, conference halls, recreational amenities, and other utility services.
VSSUT offers more than 16 programmes in nine streams at UG, PG, and Doctoral levels. VSSUT Odisha courses include Engineering and Architecture, Humanities, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Application and IT, Maths, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electronics, telecommunication, Etc.

VSSUT Courses and Admission 2024
VSSUT Odisha offers nine courses in 16 streams at the undergraduate, graduate, master's, and doctoral levels. Engineering and Architecture, Humanities, Sciences, Computer Application, and IT are among the subjects these programmes cover. VSSUT fee structure is reasonable compared to other universities, allowing students from low-income families to receive a quality education. VSSUT admission to available courses like four-year B.Tech/five-year B.Tech and M.Tech Dual Degree (Civil Engineering & Electrical Engineering)/B.Tech(lateral entry)/MCA & MCA (Lateral Entry) and five-year Architecture (Main), OJEE/JEE scores are considered. The OJEE 2024 exam has ended, and the special OJEE exam (second) will be conducted from June 24, 2024, to June 26, 2024. VSSUT, on the other hand, admits PG students based on their performance in the VSSUT entrance exam (Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology Entrance Examination) and viva voce. The Entrance Exam for VSSUT PG admission will be conducted in the first week of July (tentative).

VSSUT Application Process 2024
VSSUT is noted for its B.Tech programmes, available in 10 specialisations. Candidates applying for B.Tech admissions at VSSUT must take the JEE Main or OJEE test and participate in OJEE counselling for final seat allocation. The fee for VSSUT's B.Tech programme is Rs 91,280 per year.
VSSUT also admits students to additional programmes such as M.Tech, MCA, and PhD based on their performance in entrance exams such as GATE, OJEE, and UGC NET. The article covers the selection criteria, dates, eligibility, and application process.
The VSSUT at Burla offers a four-year Bachelor's degree in Technology with 11 concentration subjects. The university also provides a five-year integrated B.Tech+M.Tech programme with two specialities.
Admission to the University's B.Tech. Programmes depend on performance in the Odisha government's Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Every year in March, the Odisha JEE application process begins. VSSUT apply online feature is available for candidates of Odisha JEE.
With a two-year timeframe, VSSUT offers M.Tech programmes in 20 distinct areas. Each M.Tech programme has an intake capacity of 18 students.
GATE scores determine the eligibility for admission to any M.Tech programme. The college takes direct admission for the remaining seats, with candidates are chosen based on their B.Tech or equivalent examination performance.
Students who have been selected for admission to VSSUT Burla through the JEE/OJEE/Univ. Entrance exams must register online through the link accessible on the VSSUT official website.

VSSUT Placements
Prof. (Dr) P.Nanda leads the Placement Cell, supported by a six-member Training & Placement Council. A faculty adviser is assigned to each department to liaison between the department and the Training & Placement Cell. To coordinate the many activities conducted by the Training & Placement Cell, a student committee composed of students from each department has been formed. Student coordinators have numerous opportunities to actively participate in all aspects of Training and placement.
University College of Engineering (UCE), which began with 40 students six decades ago and is now the first in the state and second in Eastern India (after IIT, Kharagpur), has gone a long way.
